About

A resource for everyone starting over here

Germania Facile explains how everyday Germany works in plain language — in English and German, independent and free of sales pitches.

The project started as an Italian-language hand-me-down for friends. It quickly became clear that people from dozens of countries get stuck at the same points: registration, health insurance, bank account, rental contract, tax class.

Today Germania Facile is available in English and German. More languages will follow, but only once every translation can be properly reviewed.

Every guide follows the same structure: short answer, steps, documents, costs, timing, common mistakes, checklist and official sources.

We currently cover 14 areas of life, from official letters to making friends.

Rules, fees and processing times differ between federal states and municipalities and can change. Always confirm details with the responsible office before you act.

Based on real experience

Every guide starts from situations we have actually been through or researched in detail, not from generic summaries.

Written in clear language

We keep the German terms you will meet on forms, and explain them in words you can act on.

Linked to official sources

Where an authority publishes the rule, we link to it so you can verify it yourself.

Reviewed and dated

Each guide shows when it was last reviewed, so you always know how current it is.

Transparent about limits

We separate legal obligation, practical advice and personal experience, and we say when something depends on your federal state.

Independent

No invented statistics, no fake reviews, no paid recommendations presented as advice.
